Classification

Living carnivores (i.e. members of the mammal order Carnivora) are commonly divided into two groups, feliform (including the cat family, Felidae) and caniform (including wolves and dogs, Canidae). Pinnipeds are classified as caniform carnivores, along with bears (Ursidae), raccoons (Procyonidae) and weasels (Mustelidae). (See a Feliform vs Caniform chart)
