Sirenians are the least familiar marine mammals, a group including the dugong, manatees and Steller’s sea cow, which was hunted to extinction.
If there’s no further information below, you might want to explore the groups this order belongs to or check out its children. Otherwise, you can try Google or check back again in a few weeks; GeoZoo is under constant development.

Distribution
The distribution of the three manatee species can be pretty well judged by their names - West African manatee, West Indian manatee and Amazonian manatee. The West Indian manatee ranges along the east coast of the Americas from Brazil through the Caribbean (the West Indies) to Florida and even as far north as New York on occasion.
The dugong ranges across the Indo-Pacific, though most animals live near Australia.
The Steller’s sea cow was restricted to the North Pacific (Bering Sea) when Russian hunters exterminated it. However, it formerly ranged south to California and Japan.
